1 Inland Waterway Lock/Vessel Optimization Study Upper Mississippi River Locks 20-25 Center For Transportation Studies University Of Missouri, St. Louis 15 June 2005 Vessel Tracking Prototype for the UMR

2 2 Vessel Tracking Prototype Provides sample displays and vessel tracking to demonstrate the functionality possible. -Static views demonstrate geographic (map) and attribute (tabular) data display capabilities. -Dynamic views show tows moving on the UMR. Software from ESRI: -ArcMap (ArcGIS) for geographic and attribute data. -Tracking Analyst extension for vessel movements.

3 3 Scope of Prototype Scope depends on selected scheduling system. Could range from: -Local focus and span of control at a single lock (several miles upstream and downstream). -Regional or system focus incorporating multiple locks (up to ~100 miles).
