1 The Shadowing Scheme Imogen Sanders, English SSLC Chair and Academic Affairs VP Elect

2 What was involved? 2 days of shadowing: Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Janice Kay attended an informal coffee meeting with my fellow students, a 2 hour dissertation seminar, as well as a one to one coffee meeting with myself. I attended 3 meetings; Education Dual Assurance, University Student Exchange, Quality Strategy Group.

3 12:00- 13:30 Education Dual Assurance (including lunch) - VC Office Go to meeting togetherMore information about Dual Assurance: http://www.exeter.ac.uk/about/organisation/dualassuranc e/ http://www.exeter.ac.uk/about/organisation/dualassuranc e/ Under dual assurance, Professor Janice Kay (DVC Education) and Russell Seal (Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council) have responsibility for the management of the University education brief. This will include the regular monitoring of University performance (on Top 10 KPIs and supporting metrics), and progress in delivering agreed institutional priorities in the area of education. As well as the regular review of external developments and the periodic review of the organisational and policy framework for the strategic management of the education brief. FREE 16:00- 17:30 Quality Strategy Group – Ted Wragg Room NH Meet in NH reception just before 3.Meeting about quality assurance attended by the DVC, Deans of Faculty, Head of Education Enhancement, Assistant Director - Academic Policy and Standards and Student Rep. Opportunity to discuss policy issues which may effect change in University policy before papers are written for Faculty board. Decisions made at this meeting can steer for actions and papers for faculty boards (http://as.exeter.ac.uk/support/admin/staff/committees/)http://as.exeter.ac.uk/support/admin/staff/committees/

4 Behind the closed doors… Fully briefed before meetings on what each involved, who would attend and what to expect. Copies of agendas and relevant information supplied before meetings for me to browse. Questions welcomed during each meeting and any difficult acronyms etc readily explained.
