Hadith Session 3 – Part 1 Ramzan Shahid

Hadith “The first to be called to Paradise on the Day of Judgment will be those who praised Allah (SWT) during times of prosperity and adversity.”

Surah Al-Baqarah (2), Ayat 153 "O you who believe! Seek help with patient perseverance and prayer, for Allah (SWT) is with those who patiently persevere."

3 types of Sabr Patience on doing good deeds Patience on staying away from sins Patience after a loss or during difficulty List examples of each one

Patience Patience on doing good deeds Easy when everyone is doing something good. Getting up every morning to pray Fajr Saying Zuhr prayer at school Fasting while everyone at school is eating This is another example of a time of difficulty – do I do this good deed or not Also, doing that good deed consistently

Patience Patience to stay away from sin You are in a difficulty – choosing whether to do that sin or not Be patient during that difficult decision On internet alone in your room – need sabr not to go to certain website When sitting with friends and they start talking about another person, patience not to say something as well

Patience after a loss or during some difficulty You appreciate something after you lose it or after it is taken away from you Hadith: When you suffer a loss, if you are patient with that loss then Allah (SWT) will replace that loss with something even better for you. Story of Umm Salamah, husband passed away

Hadith Umm Salamah dealing with the loss of her husband. She patiently bore his loss and she remembered the supplication that the Prophet (saws) taught us: “Inna-lillahi wa'inna ilayhi raji'un. Allahumma-juri fi museebati wa akhlif li khairan minha. To Allah we belong, and to Him is our Return. O Allah grant me patience in this difficulty and grant me better than what I lost.” [Muslim; 2:632]

Hadith Prophet (SAW) taught her a dua: Dua when someone dies (We come from Allah and to Allah we will return) followed by O Allah grant me patience in this difficulty and grant me better that what I lost. Later Prophet (SAW) ended up marrying her

Patience When we’re lacking something or we lose something, we must be patient

Hadith " Hardships continue to befall a believing man and woman's body, family, and property, until they meet Allah (SWT) burdened with no sins.“ " Whenever Allah wills good for a person, He subjects him to adversity."

Patience A person is raised to a level that they would not have been able to achieve just by their own worship or actions alone, so Allah puts them in difficulty and they are patient so their status is raised.

Hadith “For some Believers, Allah ordains a high station which he does not attain by his own efforts, so Allah afflicts him with a physical or material distress or grief from the side of his children, and then grants him the good fortune to be patient till (in turn for these troubles and calamities and his patience and forbearance), He makes him attain the high station decreed for him beforehand.”

Hadith “On the Day of Resurrection, when people who have suffered are given their reward, those who are healthy will wish their skins had been cut to pieces with scissors when they were in the world.”

Patience Take advantage of difficulty, show patience and make dua that Allah replace it with something better. Instead of complaining why I lost my job, why me, why am I the only one suffering. Rather see it as that Allah gave me the job to begin with and ask for patience

Patience during every circumstance Every one will be put in a different circumstance, will be tested Not cards that we have been dealt, but how we play the game with those cards In your circumstance do you praise Allah, thank Allah Some people wealthy, not lucky unless that wealth allows them to praise Allah and thank Allah by being able to get close to Allah

Patience during every circumstance Some people poor but if they cont to be thankful to Allah, can attain Paradise Doesn’t matter what you have but how use what you have Make sure wealth is not a distraction to coming to the masjid, spending time with our family, giving to others

Patience during every circumstance We look at someone else and they have the best life, no problems, they have money, etc. But everyone has problems, everyone has difficulties. I wish I could live his life. But everyone is being is tested in their own way We have to be patient in every circumstance

Patience Video Can you wait 5 minutes? Our life is the exact same way

Patience For the kids in the video 5 minutes seemed like an eternity to wait For us, the 60 or 70 years of this life is actually like 5 minutes compared to the Hereafter

Patience Allah (SWT) will Inshallah reward us for our effort. The question is whether we want that reward in this life or can we wait 5 minutes and get a much bigger reward in the Hereafter. Do we want 2 marshmallows instead of one

Patience We can have our huge house ◦ Do we want it in this life or in the Hereafter We can have our fancy car ◦ Do we want it in this life or in the Hereafter We can have our wonderful food ◦ Do we want it in this life or in the Hereafter

Patience If we spend the 5 minutes of this life in using that money to provide housing for the poor, provide a ride for the needy, provide food for the orphan, Then we have will have a huge reward waiting for us in the Hereafter.
