2 LIVING HABITATS OF ANIMALS SURFACE Animals living on surface use various techniques to move, such as walking, running, hopping, and climbing. There many types of surface habitats, such as jungle, mangroves, deserts, and urban cities. Animals living on the surface usually have lungs for breathing. 3 LIVING HABITATS OF ANIMALS DOGS The dog (Canis lupus familiaris and Canis lupus dingo) is a domesticated form of the gray wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the order Carnivora. Dogs have lived and worked with humans in so many roles that they have earned the unique nickname, "man's best friend", a phrase which is used in other languages as well. 4 LIVING HABITATS OF ANIMALS CATS Cats can be make nice pets too, especially if you prefer a more docile pet. Generally cats are not as forth coming as dogs but they can make charming pets. 6 LIVING HABITATS OF ANIMALS CARPS Carps are various species of oily freshwater fish of the family Cyprinidae, a very large group of fish native to Europe and Asia. 7 LIVING HABITATS OF ANIMALS GOLDFISH The goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus) is a freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae of order Cypriniformes. It was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated, and is one of the most commonly kept aquarium fish. Selective breeding over centuries has produced several color variations, some of them far removed from the "golden" color of the originally domesticated fish.
