3. LIVING HABITATS OF ANIMALS DOGS The dog (Canis lupus familiaris and Canis lupus dingo) is a domesticated form of the gray wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the order Carnivora. Dogs have lived and worked with humans in so many roles that they have earned the unique nickname, "man's best friend", a phrase which is used in other languages as well. 7. LIVING HABITATS OF ANIMALS GOLDFISH The goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus) is a freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae of order Cypriniformes. It was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated, and is one of the most commonly kept aquarium fish. Selective breeding over centuries has produced several color variations, some of them far removed from the "golden" color of the originally domesticated fish.
