4. What is pumpkin?  Pumpkins are members of the gourd family. They are related to melons, cucumbers and squashes.  Fruit, not vegetables.

14. Jack-O-Lantern  People also called the grimace pumpkin light Jack-O-lantern. Why?  One story about Jack, an Irishman, was not allowed into Heaven because he was stingy( 吝 啬的 ) with his money. So he was sent to hell. But down there he played tricks on the Devil (Satan), so he was kicked out of Hell and made to walk the earth forever carrying a lantern( 灯笼 ).
