4 The reason Hernan Cortes was exploring was because he was looking for adventure and wealth.

5 Hernan Cortes sailed from Spain to Mexico in search of wealth.

6 Before leaving they stuffed there pockets with gold and they drowned because they had so much.

7 Stories say that the Aztec emporer Montezuma II, thought Cortes might be this god and sent him gifts of gold.

8 He was defeated in 1521.

9 He was a very wealthy man after his trip. It was quite a success.
