Key concepts include: interactions within and among populations nutrient cycling with energy flow through ecosystems; the effects of natural events and human activities on ecosystems; and analysis of the flora, fauna, and microorganisms of Virginia ecosystems including the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.
