4 Paraphrasing... Is a restatement of a passages ideas in your own words. The authors meaning is retained, but your wording, not the suthors is used. We do it a lot in everyday speech. Do you always repeat word for word something you tell someone that you heard somewhere else?... Can be used to make a passages meaning clearer and often more concise.
