2 About the Author: Harper Lee Born in Monroeville, Alabama. She studied Law at the University of Alabama and spent a year at Oxford University. Six months before graduating from college, she moved to New York to pursue a literary career. To Kill a Mockingbird was her first and only book she wrote that became an enormous best seller in 1961 and a feature film in 1962. Credits: http://www.harperlee.com/bio.htm
