6 What do you call a smiling, courteous person at a lawyer’s convention? The caterer. How many lawyers does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they’d rather keep their clients in the dark.

7 The New York Times, among other papers, recently published a new Hubble Space Telescope photograph of distant galaxies colliding. 8 Answers by Various Individuals to “Why People Hate Lawyers”: There are I believe two answers- the apallingly expensive legal system which you have, and the cynical way in which many US lawyers manipulate the system to the advantage of themselves or their clients. While I've actually known some decent lawyers, I despite lawyers as a group becuase of what I see them doing to every level of our society. For example: Malpractice litigation in the USA has boomed in recent decades, and is seriously impacting our medical system in many areas…there are a lot of lawyers running around looking for any potential claim. They do this not to set things right, but to make money for themselves. They no longer care if a case is just or unjust, or what the law really intends; all that matters is whether they think they can convince a jury to award damages. We want a justice system, but what we have is a legal system; and lawyers are the agents who prevent it by making sure that Lady Justice can't see the forest for the trees.
