Cisco Building Broadband Service Manager (BBSM) Hotspot is an access gateway for public access networks that enables simple plug-and-play access, end user self-provisioning of services, multiple authentication and billing options and Web-based management, reporting and configuration BBSM Hotspot works with Cisco access-layer LAN products to provide a complete solution that enables service providers or venues to create, market and operate broadband access services in markets such as public spaces/hotspots, small to medium businesses (overlay) and small hotels

Computer users can connect to the network using devices configured for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or static IP, as well as proxy settings, or DNS entries. This plug- and-play capability enables access for the widest variety of users and laptop configurations. Multiple Authentication & Billing Options Cisco BBSM Hotspot offers multiple billing and authentication methods to service mobile computer user requirements including credit card, voucher/coupon (access code) and pre- and post-paid accounting via Remote Access Dial-In User Service (RADIUS). Additionally, BBSM Hotspot also offers volume-based billing that uses octet and packet statistics. With BBSM Hotspot, you can offer high-speed Internet access at your property as a fee-for-service model, or you can offer it as a free amenity to attract more customers.

BBSM Hotspot integrates with the central RADIUS servers of these large roaming providers and supports their specific usage and billing requirements by using “smart clients”. BBSM Hotspot supports full AAA RADIUS: Authentication (who is the user), Authorization (what the user is allowed to do), and Accounting (what resources did the user utilize). Roaming agreements and leveraged marketing campaigns with these providers can generate additional revenue for public hotspots and simultaneously provides a valuable service to their customers. Location Based Portal BBSM Hotspot comes with a custom web page wizard that walks you through the process of creating a custom connect screen that is complete with access and pricing options as well as the ability to insert personalized graphics and logos. Upon launching the web browser, BBSM Hotspot redirects all end users to a customizable connect screen which can be tailored to explain available services including various bandwidth and price options; walled garden free access areas such as local sites, advertising, e-commerce and/or weather; and a link to the property owner’s or service provider’s home page. Key Features and Benefits of BBSM Hotspot Server (continued)

The user may opt for a “bandwidth-boost” for a premium. The administrator creates the tiered bandwidth offerings, and the user self-subscribes from the list of options on the connect screen. Security 100% VPN Access with Simultaneous Private and Public IP Address Functionality BBSM Hotspot supports all VPN clients and provides the additional benefit of conserving costly public IP addresses for only those VPN clients that require them. This is accomplished with the BBSM Hotspot multi-net functionality that supports private and public IP addressing schemes on the same network. SSL Encryption Compliant The BBSM Hotspot is SSL (Secure Socket Layer) compliant. SSL increases security to the Internet by encrypting private information such as credit card data and passwords. BBSM Hotspot has administrator user privilege level. Key Features and Benefits of BBSM Hotspot Server (continued)

Cost Effective Cisco BBSM Hotspot is a low-cost, pre-loaded server appliance suited for small- to medium-sized venues that supports up to 75 concurrent users and can be upgraded to support up to 150 concurrent users. Easy to Deploy BBSM Hotspot is easy to set up, install, and configure with extensive user- friendly setup wizards and can be quickly running in a matter of minutes. BBSM Hotspot wizard will walk you through all of the basic settings required to configure your server. BBSM Hotspot also provides an advanced web-configuration tool that goes beyond the Setup Wizard and offers more sophisticated features and design settings for complex installations. 13 Presentation_ID © 2001, Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. 13 Making default assumptions on: –Network Configuration –Timing values –Other (such as approval amounts, etc.) Leading the user through the process Calculate IP address allocations based on user- friendly prompts Add automated testing, where applicable Wizard Goals BBSM Hotspot Ease of Use is accomplished by:

14 Presentation_ID © 2001, Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. 14 Wizard Assumptions: Addressing Installation –This is a new installation, not a fit into an existing installation –If this is a fit into an existing installation, use WebConfig, et al. Class/Network ID –For internal network, customers will use a Class C or smaller –Class C = 254 users. BBSM Hotspot is marketed for 150 users or less IP Allocation – External Network –Router Address is address with all zeros for the host ID –BBSM external NIC address is first non-zero address in internal range IP Allocation – Internal Network –BBSM internal NIC address is first non-zero address in internal range BBSM Hotspot Wizard is designed with the following assumptions:

15 Presentation_ID © 2001, Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. 15 Wizard Assumptions: Internal Address Pool Network Device Address Range –BBSM hotspot prompts user for total number of devices and allocates addresses –User must program network devices with IP addresses at this time –If user devices are pre-programmed with addresses other than what BBSM Hotspot is assigning, go to WebConfig, et al. Static Client Range –BBSM will subtract the address allocated for network devices and allocate 10% of the remaining internal address pool to statically configured clients DHCP Client Range –After allocating network device and static client addresses, BBSM will allocate of the remaining internal address pool to DHCP clients BBSM Hotspot Wizard is designed with the following assumptions: (continued)

16 Presentation_ID © 2001, Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. 16 Setup Options Not Covered in Wizard These features will not be configurable via the Hotspot Wizard. Users must use WebConfig, Switch Discovery and IP Address Change to implement these features: Multinet Access Code Management Clustering Assigning address schemes other than the defaults “Advanced” Features such as timeout values between BBSM and RADIUS Server BBSM Hotspot Wizard is designed with the following assumptions: (continued)
