1 UNM – Valencia Campus Information Technology Program Partnership

2 Partnership Objective Improve graduate placement in Information Technology at our campus and in the five partner high schools in our service area!

4 Program Objectives Build and maintain a graduate tracking system for all partners. Improve participation of potential IT employers in joint IT Advisory Committees. Provide access for high school students to IT internships, sponsored by UNM – Valencia Campus’ Computer Support department.

5 Accomplishments Completed Mentor Visit at UNM-Valencia in February 2003. Completed Reverse Mentor visit to Camden County Community College in April 2003. Started IT Curriculum modifications in May 2003. Started graduate tracking in May 2003. Modified and reprinted our IT brochure in July 2003.

6 Accomplishments Toni received approval for IT curriculum changes from the UNM Curriculum Committee in March 2004. Toni completed Several IT Certification prep courses this year and anticipates receiving several nationally recognized certifications. Curriculum changes printed in the new catalog published in August 2004.

7 Accomplishments Toni Black visited Phyllis’s location at Camden County Community College in June of 2004 for both a facility tour and some IT training. Toni was provided with some new Advisory Committee members from Phyllis’ faculty. Phyllis returned to our campus in August 2004. She and Toni discussed progress to date and possible implementation of Northwest Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET) skill standards and curriculum in an effort to approach a Nationally Standardized curriculum.

8 Accomplishments Toni Black participated in IT training on the following:

9 Future Plans Continue to improve our interface with local high schools, especially with internships. Adjust the IT curriculum at UNM – Valencia Campus to fit the NWCET model. Continue to expand our Industry Advisory Committee and continue to meet primarily via E- mail.
