2. Benjamin Franklin is born in January 17,1706 in Boston Massachusetts bay. He suffered from both myopia and presbyopia. He married a lady and had three children name William Franklin, Francis Folger Franklin and Sarah Franklin Bache

3. Things About Benjamin Franklin He was a scientist, a writer and a politician. He died in April 17,1790 (aged 84). Benjamin Franklin was one of the founding fathers of the united states. Franklin was a leading author,printer, politician, postmaster, scientist, musician,inventor,satirist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat.

4. He invented the lightning rod, bifocal, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, and the glass ‘armonica’. He formed both the first public lending library and the first fire department in Pennsylvania.

5. Did You Know? Although Benjamin Franklin invented many things, he never tried to get a patent for any of his inventions. That was because he was generous. He wanted to give his invention to the world, so anyone could use them.

6. About spectacles The first lenses for correcting astigmatism were constructed by the british astronomer George airy in 1825.

7. Over time, the construction of spectacle frames also evolved. Early eyepiece were designed to be either held in place by exerting pressure on the nose. Giroiamo savonar suggested that eyepieces could be held in place by a ribbon passed over the wearer’s head, this in turn secured by the weight of a hat. The modern style of glasses, held by temples passing over the ears, was developed some time before 1727.

8. These design were not immediately successful, however, and various styles with attached handles such as “scissors- glasses” and lorgnettes were also fashionable from the second half of the 18 th century and into the early 19 th century.
