2 2 Where Do I Begin? Always Start with God A life of Devotion – Supplication, Meditation, Application God has a plan for His creation Jeremiah 29:11 – Future and Hope 1Thessalonians 4:3-8 – Sanctification and Holiness John 17:3 – Eternal Life Consider this - God has made you - made you capable Invite Him into your search - If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!“ Luke 11:13 Have you asked Him yet?

3 C ALVARY C HAPEL S OUTH B AY 3 Where Do I Begin? A consistent devotional life - Key to success Three basic elements that make all the difference Being in the Word – God has given us His word. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 Being in Worship – Our response to God. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. Psalm 95:6 Being at Work – Our way to co-labor with God. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.Colossians 3:17 Stewardship – Our response to using all that is God’s. Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:9-11 Servanthood – Our response to learning of our Lord Jesus. So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.John 13:12-17

5 C ALVARY C HAPEL S OUTH B AY 5 Employment Relevant Biblical Principles Much Discussion yields nothing All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. Proverbs 14:23 Idleness works against us In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right. 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13 Contentment is trusting God Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
