4. Globalization Globalization is understood as a process or flow (of people, cultures, trade, ideas, goods, capital, etc). As such: humanity has globalized: Migration of population; spread of ideas, techniques; increased coordination and interdependence of important activities at a world scale.

Some features of globalization in different periods Early globalization took place slowly - with slow pace Recently (of 20 th century marked by high - tech industries), the flows of goods, capital, etc accelerated - even more with the use of IT. Multicultural education Every one should enjoy fundamental freedom multiculturalism and multicultural education mean different things in different countries: – In some multicultural education is promoted as a means to help students obtain skills for employment in the global society and to educate citizens to accept and affirm human/cultural diversity. – In other countries, the idea of multicultural education (and multiculturalism) is seen as a way to address equality issues; and – still in other countries it receives a mixed acceptance or it is rejected for various reasons, including a perception that it is a threat to national ‘solidarity’ It means differently in different contexts.
