1 GEOG 101: DAY 25 Starting to Tie Up Loose Ends

2 Housekeeping Items Any further feedback on or questions about Lucas’ talk? Any comments about what you learned doing the LCAs? Any unexpected findings? I have a course evaluation sheet I would like you to fill out. I value greatly your input. If you are concerned that I will punish you for being frank (I won’t), just detach the bottom part where I ask you to evaluate your own participation. Any assignments that I get this week that I don’t get a chance to mark before Thursday will be given back at the exam. Thursday we will do a review for the final exam.

3 Housekeeping Items Wikipedia on Biosphere 2: “Biosphere 2 is an Earth systems science research facility. It has been owned by the University of Arizona since 2011. Its mission is to serve as a center for research, outreach, teaching, and lifelong learning about Earth, its living systems, and its place in the universe. It is a 3.14-acre (1.27- hectare) [1] structure originally built to be an artificial, materially closed ecological system in Oracle, Arizona, US by Space Biosphere Ventures, a joint venture whose principal officers were John P. Allen, inventor and Executive Director, and Margret Augustine, CEO. Constructed between 1987 and 1991, it explored the web of interactions within life systems in a structure with five areas based on biomes, and an agricultural area and human living and working space to study the interactions between humans, farming, and technology with the rest of nature. It also explored the use of closed biospheres in space colonization, and allowed the study and manipulation of a biosphere without harming that of the Earth.”University of Arizonalifelong learning [1]artificial, materially closed ecological systemOracle John P. 4 Housekeeping Items At least two people who did an action project will give a brief overview of what they did – Tori and Christine, and if others have things they want to share, by all means, as Iong as it’s brief. I would also like to show some short video clips that highlight some of the very hopeful things that are being done in the world. Any themes or motifs that stand out for you from this semester?
