5 Link Types Links can be categorized in many ways Nature (opinion, explanation, additional information…) Media type (text, sound, video…) Target (new page, another site… Inside a Web page these link types can be formatted in different ways

6 Link Types It may be necessary to provide additional information about the link type large media files secure connections page redirects etc.

7 The Value of a Link Using a link pointing to another site needs always to be considered Bad design of the target page Dynamic technologies (JavaScript, Flash) Pop-up windows Shortageness of the target page Information security problems

8 Permission to Linking? Normal linking to another site does not require permissions There are still some juridical points: Use of frames Linking to downloadable files Copying another’s sites content to another server
