1. 2014 The Ren Baldwin Student Technology Festival

2. Purpose To showcase authentic technology integration of student work from the classroom. To honor Ren Baldwin and his contributions to technology in St. Joseph Public Schools. To demonstrate to the community how 21 st Century skills are being incorporated into teaching and learning in St. Joseph Public Schools.

3. Event Description Teachers and students will submit projects that incorporate technology connected to curriculum content. Projects will be judged according to levels and categories. All submitted work will be showcased at the festival. Top entries will receive prizes (for both student and teacher) and special recognition at the festival.

4. Participants/Levels/Categories Open to all SJPS K-12 students Four age divisions: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 Categories * Mo vies/Digital Stories/Trailers *Presentations/Screencasts *Music/Podcasts (Sound ONLY) *Robotics/Engineering *Digital Photography *Digital Art, Posters, Infographics *Drawings/Architecture*Animations/Simulations/Games *Websites/Blogs/Digital Portfolios

5. Guidelines Entries must have a teacher sponsor. Entries must be connected to a curriculum standard. All work must be original and completed by the student after April 15, 2013. All copyrighted material must be properly cited. Students may only submit one project per category and no more than three total submissions. Entries may be made individually or as part of a team (no larger than 5). K-2 may submit a single classroom project. Only FIVE projects of the same assignment may be submitted for judging with the same teacher sponsor. Unlimited entries may be submitted for showcasing.

6. Judging and Prizes Projects will be judged by educators and community members using the posted rubric. All submissions will receive a certificate of participation. Prizes will be awarded to the best entry in each category for each age division. A $250 grand prize will be awarded to both the student and sponsoring teacher for the best project at each level. All participants will be entered in a drawing for an iPad.

7. Dates Tuesday, April 15, 2014--All projects due by midnight! Festival date Friday, May 9, 2014

9. Are you ready to BUNDLE? TEACHERS ONLY: Submit a My Big Campus Bundle that can be added to the SJPS Best Practice Bundle Library! Bundles can be on any topic, lesson, subject, etc. Bundles can be created individually or collaboratively. Prizes awarded for best Bundles at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Prize = $100 per level.

10. Additional Information Amy, Kathy, and Jamie are willing to come in and work with you and your students to create projects. Entry form, complete rules, and rubrics are available on the media center web pages, as well as the district technology integration page.
