As we have seen, the electoral cycle defines the key stages and components in an electoral process – which are: the pre-election preparatory period, the operational election period and the strategic post-election period. The adequate understanding of these components/stages of the cycle can be used as an effective tool to plan and deliver more sustainable electoral support and make electoral assistance more effective. Sustainable support is much more than just support.
