2 Comparison using your body Take your hand and compare/contrast your foot to it in a comparison/ contrast writing. Steps- follow the previous comparison/contrast steps. 1. Make up lists on each object 2. Brainstorms 3. One paragraph 4. Remember to skip lines as you write so you can revise between the lines.

3 Think outside the box- Example Eye/Ear -compare how your ear and eye gather information Compare how your ear and eye react to things that don’t belong there Compare how your ear and eye look when stared at on someone’s head Think outside the box when you look at compare and contrast for your hand and foot. Think of different ways to compare them.

4 Hand /foot essaycheck points Are you writing about a specific foot and specific hand? Or are you just comparing feet and hands? It is okay to mention some generalities but make sure you are specific in your essay. Can you link your paragraphs together or do they seem out of place when read all at once? Did you read it out loud to yourself?

5 How to Revise your work Revise your writing by rereading and putting revisions in spaces. 1 st - Read it to yourself aloud in the storage room –Look for sentences that do not make sense, or that sound strange. 2 nd - Do you repeat a lot of words over and over? Don’t. 3rd- Go to the last sentence and read it. Then read the sentence before it…and so on. Do this to look for grammar mistakes. It works. 4th- Find someone who needs you to look at their work and switch - Peer revise 5 th - Look at their comments and write your final draft in pen- NOT SKIPPING LINES

6 “The Review”- The Three Best OR The Three Worse Your assignment is to do a review of the three best or the three worst of anything. Some suggestions- -fast food restaurants -TV shows -Movies -Sports teams -cell phone models

7 “The Review”- Steps 1 ST Define the topic - Start with an introduction to your topic and explain exactly what you are going to do and the way that you are going to compare the three things that you are doing. 2 nd - The Arrangement- You want your review to build up to something and therefore you should save the best of the best or the worst of the worst until the end. Build up to your big one. 3 rd - The Format- write a paragraph for each one and use complete sentences

8 “The Review” – steps continued 4 th - The style-You can be humorous if you want but be sure to inform the reader. Try to pick aspects of something that are unique and avoid words such as “stupid” and “it sucks.” 5 th - Skip lines, revise, Plan ahead. You will have one computer lab class to type out a finished copy.
