© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Huawei LTE Commissioning Overview Jeff Fry, Wimax/LTE Systems Integration & Test, Technology Development LTE Network Commissioning Document: LTE Commissioning Overview: Dual-mode Wimax/LTE Commissioning Data Preparation Commissioning Task OAM Link and Commissioning Task Execution Distribute Commercial License Multi-modal BTS and eNodeB Mode

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Dual-mode Wimax/LTE: Basics TD-LTE, Band 41 –EARFCN=40590 (freq=2590MHz) –20 MHz LTE deployed as 3 sectors using Reuse-1 (one frequency). Each configured carrier is a Cell. LTE initially deployed as S111.

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Network Architecture MME – Mobile Management Entity controls mobile signaling: network attach/authentication (to HSS), handovers, idle mode SGW – Service Gateway provides the user plane data traffic. HSS – Home Subscriber Server provides subscriber provisioning. Important interfaces from the eNodeB: –S1-U : interface to the SGW –S1-MME : interface to the MME –X2 : interface to another eNodeB for mobility

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Dual-mode Wimax/LTE: Shared BS Wimax and LTE run on the same base station with addition of LTE cards. Wimax and LTE share the same radio head (RRU). Separate backhaul for Wimax & LTE. GigE for LTE and 100MB ETH for Wimax. LTE Cards: LBBP, LMPT LTE Carriers on 2 nd fiber Wimax Carriers on 1 st fiber

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Dual-mode Wimax/LTE: Fiber Clearing and Configuration Scenarios Due to the various Wimax configurations (S222, etc), different Wimax reconfigurations (Fiber Clearing) are required to support LTE S111. Fiber Clearing should be completed prior to LTE commissioning.

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Commissioning Data Preparation Similar to Wimax, templates are used for commissioning – LTE Summary Data Files. LTE Summary Data Files are Excel spreadsheets that only contain the specific eNodeB parameters for IP and RF planning. Default or common parameters are already loaded into the EMS. Referenced by LTE Summary Data File. No additional MML configuration required. Request eNodeB license from Huawei.

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Auto-Deployment Task Create the task using the new CM Express EMS component. This is new for LTE. Similar to Wimax WCS, you create a workspace and import the LTE Summary Data File. CM Express provides automatic checks prior to deploying. Specify the software version, but should default to the latest. This will create an auto-deployment task in the eNodeB auto-deployment list.

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only OAM Link and Commissioning Task Execution To start the commissioning task, enter the eNodeB ESN (from the field tech) and start the task. The OAM link is established via DHCP like Wimax. Monitor the progress of the task through each step (software download, configuration, etc).

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Main Topology eNodeB Topo Object is initially created in a default EASY_DEPLOYMENT subnet alongside Wimax BTS. Can be moved to a new LTE subnet.

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Distribute Commercial License Distribute the eNodeB license that was provided by Huawei based on the eNodeB ESN.

© 2006 Clearwire Corporation CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY, Limited Distribution to Authorized Persons Only Multi-modal BTS and eNodeB Mode The BS must be configured in the EMS to show that it is multi-modal and supports both Wimax and LTE. This show the BS as a single node with Wimax and LTE in the topology. It also prevents duplicate alarms from Wimax and LTE. eNodeB are initially deployed in a TEST mode. This must be changed to a NORMAL mode. This affects some alarms.
