Real world problem situations are becoming more important in the study of computers. You and your teammates are stockbrokers who will research, gather and analyze data to create a stock portfolio. You will compete against other teams in the class and in the state of Arizona. In the process you will learn valuable investing techniques, team collaboration, critical thinking skills and decision making strategies using technology resources. You will have the ongoing tasks of preparing and presenting electronic portfolios weekly. UNIT SUMMARY

What is a ticker symbol? What is a brand and how is that different from a parent company? What is a public company? What is a private company? How do you decide to buy and sell stocks? What is NYSE,? NASDAQ? AMEX? Who governs the stock market? What are mutual funds? What does it mean to be diversified? What are different investment industries or sectors? What is a bear versus bull market?
