1 MAGIC of PREPOSITIONS This STAIR will address middle school students with a working knowledge of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, articles and conjunctions as well as an understanding of simple and compound.

2 The Magic of Prepositions
Prepositions have the ability to magically change the meaning of a sentence.

3 Prepositions A preposition is a part of speech that shows a relationship between two things. Location (on, under, in, above, over) Time (before, after, since, during) Direction (from, toward, to) Rule-Eg Strategy (Deductive)

4 Prepositions The mouse is on the table. On is a preposition!
Two things: mouse + table Relationship: one is on the other On is a preposition!

18 Prepositional Phrases
Prepositional phrases begin with a preposition and end with the object of a preposition. The object of the preposition is usually a noun which comes after the preposition with an article between the two words. The object of the preposition will answer the question "What?". Eg-Rule Strategy (Inductive) The underlined part of the sentence is a prepositional phrases. The pizza in the oven is mine. The girl by the door is my sister. The runners raced around the track.
