Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Changes in the Law effective 01-16-09 adds a: Military Leave Component Employees may take up to 26 weeks of unpaid leave if their spouse, son, daughter or parent is: (1) Called to active duty (2) Injured while on active duty and requires care once they return from duty

3. University Medical Leave Current Policy: Requires a 6-month period between leaves New Policy: Requires a 30-day period between leaves Benefits paid during the leave remains the same: 6 to 11 weeks of 80% to 100% salary based on length of service Can now be used for more than one illness over the course of a fiscal year
