7. This story begins when Actaeon sees the goddess, Artemis, while she is bathing in a river.

9. Artemis becomes furious at this disgrace, so she transforms Actaeon into a stag (a male deer).

11. Actaeon’s own hunting dogs think he is a wild stag, and they tear him to pieces.

13. To me, the most interesting thing about Actaeon’s story is the irony of his own hunting dogs killing him. I think there is some justice in the hunter becoming the prey.
