3 Origins History dates back to the 10th century May have descended from Vallhunds (Swedish dogs brought to Pembrokeshire by the Vikings) May have come from the ancestors of the Schipperkes and Pomeranians brought to Wales 1920 - recognized as a pure breed in the UK 1934 - recognized as a separate breed from their cousins, the Cardigans

4 Breed Traits Herding dogs used to herd cattle and sheep Intelligent and sensitive Think of themselves as larger than they are Seems disobedient at times, but actually thinks that it knows better that to do what you want it to do

5 Care for a Corgi Need lots of attention and interaction Tend to be overweight, so they need lots of exercise and a good diet Need to be able to run around Lose their coat a few times a year, so they need to be groomed and brushed regularly

6 Appearance May be tri-colored (black, tan, and white), or red and white Can be distinguished from Cardigans because they have no tail Medium length coarse hair and a waterproof undercoat
