The Rotary Foundation The Rotary Foundation was formally named in 1928 and awarded its first grant in 1929 Following Paul Harris’s death in 1947- US$1 million 18 International Graduate Scholarships 1957 - the Foundation began recognition of individuals as PHFs. 1965 - Group Study Exchange program. Matching Grants projects 1978 - Health, Hunger and Humanity (3-H) Grants program 1985 - For Rtns, peace is more than a word. it’s a philosophy. PolioPlus program was launched in 1985. 5 Fund Development Volunteer History 2001-02 2001-02 / the United States and Canada TRF established the approved structure of three senior volunteer leaders: 1.Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator (RRFC) 2.Annual Program Fund Strategic Advisor (APFSA) 3.Major Gift Advisor (MGA)2005-06 To expand this structure to all zones and districts. The initial appointment will be for one year subject to renewal for two additional years. RRFCs have the responsibility of training and leading this team. Nominations are also being appointments are made by Trustee Chairman-elect.

7 Fund Development Volunteer Annual Programs Fund Strategic Advisor ( APFSA ) or (SA) Functions: The APFSA is responsible for the promotion of the EREY message and the raising of contributions to the Annual Programs Fund in their assigned districts. To provide a link between RRFC Rotary Foundation staff District Leadership At least 1 APFSA appointed for every 8 to 10 districts.

9 Fund Development Volunteer Responsibilities Under the leadership of the RRFC, the SA shall: Lead by example Promote the EREY-APF messageEREY-APF message Monitor monthly fundraising progress & provide support and strategies to clubs and districts Works with the MGA to cultivate and solicit major donors for Challenge and Major Gifts under US$50,000 for the APF. Completes the quarterly priority task list as assigned. US$ 278,100

10 Fund Development Volunteer Works with district leadership on an ongoing basis to: –Promote the annual giving EREY message at club and district meetings toward the US$100 per capita worldwide APF Goal; –Assist clubs and districts in setting appropriate APF goals, submitting those goals to Foundation staff, and provide strategies toward goal achievement; –Assist clubs and districts to develop and maintain strong fundraising committees to establish and meet goals;

11 Fund Development Volunteer –Seek a minimum of one major donor Challenge Gift per district; –Create awareness about the Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member and TRF- DIRECT Donations programs; –Ensure that there are no non-contributing clubs in the district; –Encourage 100% participation by all clubs in Foundation programs.

12 Fund Development Volunteer MAJOR GIFTS ADVISOR (MGA) Functions: The Major Gift Advisor is responsible for promoting and raising major gifts to the Foundation in assigned districts. To provide a link between RRFC Rotary Foundation staff District Leadership At least 1 Major Gift Advisor appointed for every 8 to 10 districts.

14 Fund Development Volunteer Lead by example Assist RRFCs in promoting major gifts, Bequest Society and Benefactor commitmentsAssist RRFCs in promoting major gifts, Bequest Society and Benefactor commitments Personally identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts Monitor monthly fundraising progress Provide regular progress reports to RRFCs and Foundation staff as requested. Responsibilities

15 Fund Development Volunteer Train and work closely with district leadership on an ongoing basis. Specifically, –Promote the Two Needs, Two Ways of Giving message at meetings; –Assist clubs and districts in setting enhanced fund development goals, submitting these goals to the Foundation, and providing strategies for goal achievement; –Encourage clubs and districts to develop and maintain strong fundraising committees –Seek at least one major gift to the Annual Programs Fund per district –Encourage districts to identify, cultivate, and solicit at least 12 major gift prospects every year; –Plan cultivation and stewardship events

16 Fund Development Volunteer Foundation Alumni Resource Group (FARG) The goal of RFACs is to ensure that Rotary clubs and districts make Foundation alumni integral to Rotary, to urge clubs to consider alumni as potential Rotary club members and as potential contributors to TRF, to use alumni as effective advocates for the programs of TRF. 18 Fund Development Volunteer Support and encourage district alumni subcommittees: to develop a strategic plan for improving alumni activities in the district and its implementation. to work with The Rotary Foundation Alumni Section to maintain an accurate and complete current list of all alumni within the district. to work closely with the district scholarships, GSE, Rotary Centers, grants, and Rotaract subcommittees Create and distribute a monthly newsletter to the district alumni subcommittees. Help organize district and multidistrict orientation seminars for Ambassadorial Scholars & GSE team members Responsibilities

19 Fund Development Volunteer Work with the RRFC and the zone leadership team on alumni and Rotary Foundation matters. Help districts organize specific alumni events to bring district alumni together. Assist in the creation of district or regional alumni associations by alumni associations Encouraging an annual meeting of a district alumni association, preferably during the district conference Integrating alumni association activities with local Rotary activities Integrating alumni association activities with local Rotary activities Encouraging the use of the Internet and other electronic communications to facilitate alumni activities Encouraging the use of the Internet and other electronic communications to facilitate alumni activities

20 Fund Development Volunteer Promote and encourage appropriate alumni for Rotaract or Rotary club membership Encourage alumni to contribute financially to The Rotary Foundation Encourage alumni to participate in club and district service projects Promote and encourage districts to maintain a speakers’ bureau - Foundation Month (Nov.). Help coordinate alumni activities at regional and international meetings. Encourage alumni and district alumni subcommittee chairs to submit articles for publication Give presentations on Foundation alumni to Foundation seminars, fundraising events, or other TRF events.

To concern with the promotion of TRF and its various programs actively work in support of Rotary goals To be responsive to requests by the Trustees and the General Secretary. providing the most effective training possible to all Rotarians.
