4 4 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop The History of Rotary Paul Harris founder & organizer in Chicago, Ill. in 1905 Rotary International – World Headquartered Evanston, Ill. 5500 Clubs world wide including U.S. Governed by International Board of Directors Elect yearly International President Established International Constitution & By-Laws No politics or religion brought into the clubs Operates on a fiscal year July 1-June 30.

5 5 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop District 5910 Rotary is divided by Countries, Zones & Districts District 5910 consists of 42 Clubs throughout SE Texas District Governor Assistant Governors Committee Chairs & Programs Youth Exchange Group Study Exchange – GSE Teams Ambassadorial Scholar Rotary Youth Leadership Association - RYLA Grant Programs for service projects Interact (High School) & Rotaract (College Level)

6 6 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop District 5910 Assemblies District Assembly – training for new officers & committee chairs Mid Year Conference – updates on goals & progress of district District Conference – celebration of accomplishments International Conference – worldwide celebration

7 7 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Beaumont Spindletop Club Board of Directors Includes 17 Members: Club Officers (6), (10) boards members & Immediate Past-President Boards Members serve 2 year terms w/ five rotating each year Monthly Meetings Committee Chairs are welcomed, but no voting rights Govern by Club Constitution & By-Laws Establish minutes of meetings, review financial statements, club programs, member attendance, district activities, new service opportunities

8 8 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Beaumont Spindletop Club Officers President – one year term, responsible for facilitating each weekly meeting, club business & board of directors meetings President Elect – next year’s President, required to participate in President Elect Training (PETS) program Vice President – Assigned to any duties as prescribed by President, also facilitates weekly meetings in absence of President Secretary/Asst Sec, - responsible for weekly attendance recording, reports, etc. Treasurer – Monthly financial, budgets & invoice payment Sergeant at Arms – (not a Board Member), responsible for weekly prayer, pledge & four way test, equipment needs & flags

10 10 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Club Attendance Attend weekly club meetings Cannot miss four (4) consecutive weeks or board has termination rights without cause 60% attendance must be made at own club meeting Makeup meeting can be made at another club or on-line makeup meeting 14 days prior or after missed meeting any rotary club in world qualifies on-line at eclubone.org – must review for minimum 30 minutes attendance at club assemblies, committee meetings qualify

11 11 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Propose a New Member Invitation Only by Club Member – “Club Sponsor” Club looks for opportunities by classification – diversity restrictions maybe considered Invitee is asked to attend several weekly club meetings and is introduced. Sponsor must not identify as potential member!! Club Sponsor proposes membership to club via application Board votes on membership application, if approved $35 application fee is submitted to Secretary. Club dues are $200 per year. Application is published for two consecutive readings for any discrepancies or disapproval by membership Club President conducts official “Induction Ceremony”

12 12 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Club Meetings Regular Meetings – each Tuesday, 12p-1pm, at MCM Elegante Committee Meetings – based on Chairpersons needs for planning & organizing Club Assemblies – designed to train/educate new officers & committee chairs needs for yearly goals, scheduled by Club President Board Meetings – once a month, Entergy’s Edison Plaza Fellowship events – Christmas Party, etc.

14 14 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Regular Club Meetings Conducted on a weekly basis each Tuesday at 12pm Prayer Pledge Song Introduction of Guests Announcements by Club President Vocation Minute – responsible for door prize for club meeting – $25 value One minute advertisement of self Program speaker – each member is assigned to select a program speaker Four Way Test Adjourned

15 15 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Rotary Foundation 501.3© non-profit organization within Rotary International Rotary’s way to fund and support international projects and achieve “understanding and friendly relations between different people and nations”. Funding Mechanisms: Endowments Every Rotarian Every Year - $100 a year contribution Sustaining Member – 10 year commitment for $100 each year Paul Harris Fellow Recognition - $1000 contributions District and Rotary International Dues – paid by club

16 16 The Rotary Club of Beaumont Spindletop Rotary Foundation Programs Permanent Fund – “long term vision”, funds invested for future where only the earnings from investments are used to support Foundation Programs Major donors are recognized by RI Annual Fund – annual giving by Rotarians and Club/District Dues supports annual programs Programs funded by Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships Rotary World Peace Fellowships Group Study Exchange Teams Health & Hunger Grants Matching Grants District Simplified Grants
