8. Overall school performance on SOLs remains high. (82% Pass Rate in English, 89% Pass Rate in Math) Math has shown steady improvement, especially in the black and white subgroups.

9. Subgroups continue to score below the school average in all content areas. Students with disabilities have the lowest performance with 53% in Math, and 42% in English. ESL population – 74% in Math, 63% in English.

10. Black students 72% in Math, and 76% in English. Economically disadvantaged students score significantly lower than overall average at 81% for Math, and 71% for English. All subgroups lower than overall, with females outperforming males.

11. What can we do???? Triple Whammy - SWD, Economically Disadvantaged, Minorities. Programs already in place to address SWD and LEP. Transportation is a problem for our after-school programs. Parent Involvement is low for our Economically- Disadvantaged families. Solution: Bring the program to our communities and empower our low-income and minority families to help bridge the gap.

17. Volunteers from school and community. PTO to provide dinners at events. Sponsors from community to provide food and snacks for events. Transportation possible provided by church. Background checks needed for adult volunteers. School fundraiser to raise additional funds that may be needed to sustain program.

18. Flyers to community, advertising program. Food, Food, Food... Students can earn community service hours. Academic in focus, but family nights will center around conversations and fellowship. Teachers may be able to earn PDS points for their service. Transportation not an issue. Church will be within walking distance of students and their families.
