2 What are Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)?  Structured, part-funded, programmes addressing strategic requirements at an innovative and challenging level  Partnership between a company and a university  New skills and ideas into business through a graduate  Access specialised knowledge and technology  Improve company profitability  Up-skill existing workforce

4 How do KTPs operate?  26 week to three year programme  Full-time ‘Associate’ (graduate) based in company  Two days per month expert academic support  Budgets for training, equipment and travel

5 How do KTPs operate?  Administration/financial support  Access to University equipment and resources  Government grant to subsidise cost to company  60% subsidy for first time SMEs  40% for non-SMEs

6 What are the benefits of a KTP?  Access to unbiased academic experts: a graduate calibre project manager to deliver chosen business objectives  Tackle problems due to lack of expertise, time, finances and facilities  Cascading of knowledge and technology  Subsidy of graduate employee/low risk trial  Protects jobs/creates employment  Fresh view/improve company culture  Improve bottom-line through greater sales or margins  Competitive advantage/strategic improvements
