The One Who Kills the Prophets Matthew 23:37-39
2
" O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ' Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! '“

" O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! Matthew 23:37a

The mind of the city was set. 11" Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ' Thus says the Lord:" Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good." '“ 12 And they said, "That is hopeless! So we will walk according to our own plans, and we will every one obey the dictates of his evil heart."

The mind of the city was set. 13Therefore thus says the Lord:" Ask now among the Gentiles, Who has heard such things? The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.14 Will a man leave the snow water of Lebanon, Which comes from the rock of the field? Will the cold flowing waters be forsaken for strange waters?

The mind of the city was set. 15 "Because My people have forgotten Me, They have burned incense to worthless idols. And they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways, From the ancient paths, To walk in pathways and not on a highway, 16 To make their land desolate and a perpetual hissing; Everyone who passes by it will be astonished And shake his head
7
The mind of the city was set. 17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back and not the face In the day of their calamity.“ 18 Then they said, " Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.“ Jeremiah 18:11-18

The mind of the city was set. Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? Why do You hide in times of trouble?2 The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.3 For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts. Psalm 10:1-4

How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! Matthew 23:37b

How often I wanted… Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, Luke 19:41

“but you were not willing.” And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. John 3:19-20

“but you were not willing.” And this is the condemnation, that the Christ has come into the world, and men loved sin rather than Christ, because their deeds were evil. John 3:19

See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ' Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! '“ Matthew 23:38-39

And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24 " Then he cried and said, ' Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. '
16
25 But Abraham said, ' Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us. ‘ Luke 16:23-26
17
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 2 Peter 2:1-2

Who say to the seers, "Do not see, "And to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.11 Get out of the way, Turn aside from the path, Cause the Holy One of Israel To cease from before us.“ Isaiah 30:10-11

He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him —the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. John 12:48
