3. What are grace and mercy? Mercy is not receiving the punishment you deserve. Grace is the good that is added that is not deserved. Mercy is taking people from a hopeless place to one where God can be seen. Grace is the lavish excess that God continues to pour out to add to your life and joy.

4. What are grace and mercy? Mercy is obliterating the darkness. Grace is flooding the place with light. Mercy is taking your debt. Grace is filling your account with a fortune. Mercy takes the blame for sin. Grace fills your life with righteousness. 1 Peter 2:9-10, Ephesians 2:12+13 Hebrews 4:14-16

5. God’s grace and mercy God’s forgiveness is absolutely endless. His mercies are new every morning (Lam 3:22-23) God’s great compassion is for the lost, broken, hurting, widows, orphans, prostitutes and drunks. God’s grace is overflowing (Ephesians 1:7 Psalm 23:5-6) He adds boundlessly to this life, Are you filled to the measure of all the fullness of God? (Ephesians 3:19)

6. Our grace and mercy? Our mercy is an embarrassment. It’s pitiful. We give a few pennies or pounds. We don’t even think it’s wrong to look down on people. In our town are there drunks? Are there prostitutes? Are there dole cheats and addicts? Next door is such a vision of God’s grace, but we haven’t prepared the ground for grace.

Which matters more, a chip on the carpet or a kid who has never understood love because their parents don’t love them? What does our town consider acceptable? Please God, have mercy?!
