11 Using Tables for Layout (3)

12 Table skills: Basics  Create and insert a table: Insert > Table >

13 Table Properties:

14 Table Properties: concepts  Width in percent means percent of the page, regardless of what size the page is on any viewer's screen.  Width in pixels is absolute: the table will be, say, 400 pixels wide, no matter how wide the viewer's browser window.  Alignment: Choose whether you want your table centered, on the left side of the page, or on the right side of the page.  Borders are what outline your table. Specify the thickness of your table's outside border. All table boarders are defined in pixels.  Cell Spacing: This specifies how thick the grid lines of the table cells will be.  Cell Padding: This is the space between the gridlines of the table (invisible or visible) and the contents of its cells.  Width and Height: Tables will automatically stretch to accommodate whatever you put in them (graphics, text, etc.) If you want your table to have a specific width, be sure to check the box and specify a dimension in the text box. Note: a step-by-step manual is posted to the course schedule, Week 5: http://web.cortland.edu/shis/314/schedule.htm http://web.cortland.edu/shis/314/schedule.htm
