Eid al-Adha is to commemorate the sacrifice Abraham made of the ram. Islam made many contributions to the world during the Medieval times. While Europe was in the dark ages, the Muslim empire was expanding rapidly. They made many new discoveries especially in medicine and algebra. Multiple Muslim scholars specialized in ophthalmology, the study of the eye, and they invented surgery, such as cataract surgery.
