3 Check-In  These four questions are based on the idea of reinstating what trauma, and even stress and overwork can take away, as listed in parentheses.  What is your name? (trauma takes away sense of identity)  How are you feeling today? (trauma takes away self- regulation)  What is your goal for the meeting? (trauma can lead to foreshortened sense of the future)  Who can help you reach that goal? (trauma can lead to loss of community)

6 OUR VISION Communities on the Southern Kenai Peninsula cultivate healthy relationships and resilient families, free from violence and substance abuse. OVERARCHING GOALS INTERVENTION: Develop a trauma-informed community that recognizes the effects of trauma with a shared understanding and responds in an empathic and helpful way. PREVENTION: To work collaboratively to increase family resiliency and prevent substance abuse, violence and trauma in our community.

8 Intermediate Goals  Community agencies, systems and schools are trauma informed  Parents of young children (0-5) strengthen protective factors for their children  Priority populations grow strong healthy peer networks that support healthy choices  All community members and organizations understand the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and know how to help children, youth, families, and adults build resilience.  Community builds capacity to reduce adult heavy and binge drinking and underage alcohol use, and eliminate the use of illegal drugs and abuse of prescription drugs month youth and adults  Intervention and treatment services for substance abuse and violence are accessible to those who need them.  Strong backbone support sustains this collaborative effort.
