3 Effects of Tourism on the Natural Environment Pacific Rim National Park  Camping, canoeing, cycling, diving, fishing, hiking, surfing, and whale watching  World famous ‘West Coast Trail’  arguably in the world's ten best hikes  seventy-five kilometers long  takes an average of five to seven days  originally constructed for the rescue of mariners  The “Graveyard of the Pacific”

7 Effects of Tourism on the Natural Environment Solutions  Trail Etiquette: Low Impact Camping  It is an offence to collect, remove, destroy or deface any heritage resource  Use a stove to minimize fires  Reduce risk of forest fires/use of wood  Ensure safe water and health conditions  If you are stuck, dig a hole 20cm deep x 30 meters away from water sources, "treasure chests"  Wash in the ocean or at the mouth of rivers  use biodegradable soap  Camp at designated campsites  Camp on the beach to reduce impact on the forest
