Spiritual Maturity Colossians 1.24-29

A wiseman once said: “If we aim at nothing we are likely to hit it.” We Christians need GOALS Jesus said that we need to go into all the world and___________________ The second part is MOST IMPORTANT

WHAT WAS PAUL’S GOAL? “Him (Christ) we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in wisdom, that we may present every man perfect (mature) in Christ Jesus” - Col. 1.28

Let’s now take a look at what the apostle Paul did in order to achieve his goal This is what I have been trying to do for almost 60 years of preaching – “present every man perfect in Christ Jesus”

TO ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL 1. Paul preached Jesus Christ “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3.18

TO ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL 2. Paul warned when necessary All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim. 3.16,17

TO ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL 3. Paul taught as well as preached “how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, Acts 20.20

TO ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL 4. Paul expended effort & emotion To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily Col. 1.29

TO ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL 5. Paul depended upon God in his labors But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 1 Cor. 15.10

APPEAL This does not mean we are SINLESS When we look at the men & women of the Bible we notice not a one was PERFECT (SINLESS) Hopefully you will come back tonight and see what will help
