3 The Presidency is the most important office in the United States.

4 Cabinet- a group made up of the heads of the Executive departments.  The vice President and many others are also members of the cabinet.

5 The President receives advice from the cabinet.  The President of the United States is one of the most powerful people in the world.

6 3 requirements to become President  Native born United citizen  Be at least 35 years old  Must have lived in the United States at least 14 years.

7 In Practice the requirements are more complex.  Every United States President has been a white male.

9 All but one President has been Protestant.  Catholic John F Kennedy was the one exception.

10 In 1984 the Democrats nominated the first woman candidate  Geraldine Ferraro  She did not win!

11 Sarah Palin was the Republican Candidate for Vice President in 2008.

13 The President earns $400,000 dollars a year.  The Vice President earns$221,100

14 Salary  The president earns a $400000 annual salary, along with a $50000 annual expense account, a $100000 non-taxable travel account and $19000 for entertainment....

15 Pensions  Pensions. The Former Presidents Act, as amended, provides each former President  a taxable pension that is equal to the annual rate of basic pay for the head of an executive  department currently $191,300.

16 $ 400,000 a year is a lot compared to Mr.Schaub’s salary.  But it is considerable less then the average major league baseball player is payed. The first President made $25,000.

18 Presidential terms are 4 years. originally there was no limit.  George Washington felt that 2 terms was enough for any person.  Only one president served more then 2 terms that was Franklin D Roosevelt.

25 The Constitution said that the Vice President should assume the powers and duties of the Presidency.  Many people were confused on what this actually met? Vice- President Tyler answered the question by taking over as President and serving the remainder of the term.
