3 Newave Modular Concept
Highlights Safe-Swap Modules Decentralized Parallel Architecture (DPA) Flexibility/Scalability High Power Density High Quality 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

4 Safe Swap Modules The Conceptpower DPA TM Modules are fully independent and are composed of all major hardware and firmware building blocks: CPU (Central Processing Unit) All power circuits (rectifier, inverter, battery charger) Static switch and static switch control Power Management Control Panel Static Switch Control unit Display Rectifier Booster Inverter Battery 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

5 Safe Swap Modules Safe-swap:
hot insertion and removal of modules from a host system without removing power. In a redundant Power Protection System Safe-swap is achieved only if a module may be added or replaced Without interrupting the power to the Load and w/o having to transfer the load to the raw mains (by-pass). High availability of power protection systems Safe scaling-up of system Easy fault recovery 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

7 Parallel Architecture
Parallel System Architectures are designed to increase Power Protection Availability, which cannot be achieved by STANDALONE UPS’S. Power Protection Parallel Architectures There are two basic Power Protection Parallel Architectures available today: Central Parallel Architecture (CPA) and Decentralized Parallel Architecture (DPA)TM These two architectures differ by the level of decentralization of their building blocks. 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

8 CENTRAL STATIC BYPASS SWITCH REDUNDANT HOT-SWAP-POWER-UNIT
Parallel Architecture In a Centralized Parallel Architectures the system is composed of common system building blocks: Centralized Parallel Architecture (CPA) (Legancy Modular UPS) CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT CONTROL PANNEL CENTRAL STATIC BYPASS SWITCH CRITICAL LOAD MAINS 1 MAINS 2 CENTRAL BATTERY PACKS CPU Control Panel REDUNDANT HOT-SWAP-POWER-UNIT Static Bypass Switch Battery The only Decentralized Parts are the Power Units. Single point of failure describes any part of the system that can, if it fails, cause an interruption of required service. This can be as simple as a process failure or as catastrophic as a computer system crash. 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

9 Parallel Architecture
Decentralized Parallel Architecture (DPA)TM was designed to distribute virtually the entire UPS Hardware and Software into modules in order to reduce the Single Points of Failures (SPOF). DPA includes distributed Parallel Architecture Decentralized Parallel Architecture (DPA) DPATM from NEWAVE MAINS 1 MAINS 2 Control Panel CPU DPA CONTROL PANNEL DPA CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT DPA POWER UNIT DPA STATIC BP SWITCH Power Unit Static bypass switch DPA BATTERY PACKS DPA CONTROL PANNEL DPA CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT DPA POWER UNIT DPA STATIC BP SWITCH and Separate Batteries DPA BATTERY PACKS DPA CONTROL PANNEL DPA CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT DPA POWER UNIT DPA STATIC BP SWITCH DPA BATTERY PACKS CRITICAL LOAD 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

27 Conclusion Newave modular concept offers a new way of thinking when conceiving a Data Centre Scalable up to 1.5 MVA 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

28 Conclusion 10 reasons for choosing a Newave modular UPS
1. Optimize capital investment and available space Pay-as-you-grow solution lowers your capital costs and increases utilization rates, while innovative rack-based technology frees up space previously needed for infrastructure support. 2. Adapt to ever-changing power requirements No need to abandon previous investment when power density needs increase or if physically moving your data centre. Adapt to changing wattage requirements in your racks with single- or multi- branch rack-mount power distribution units. 3. Accelerate speed of deployment Electrical and physical modularity allows for rapid installation with minimal engineering. 4. Lower the cost of service contracts Simplicity of system design and intelligent modular parts lessen the dependency on expensive service contracts. 5. Increase availability Specifically engineered to deliver higher availability through proactively designed, building block architecture and reduced MTTR 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

29 Conclusion 10 reasons for choosing a Newave modular UPS
6. Decrease mean-time-to-recovery (MTTR) Compartmentalize potential failures with system components consisting of intelligent, maintainable modules for quick fault recovery Plan for a power density that is increasing and unpredictable Eliminate hot spots in your data centre caused by higher power densities by targeting availability where you need it most Minimize points of failure between the UPS and the critical load Move redundancy closer to the load and prevent the majority of failures that cause critical load downtime Minimize human error Simplicity of design and intelligent modules increase system availability by mitigating human error: the number one cause of critical load downtime Decrease the operating costs With efficiency up to 96% (double conversion mode), the operating costs for a Conceptpower DPA modular UPS can be >40% less compared to those for a previous generation. 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA

30 Conclusion With the modular, safe swap UPS systems, you can
build your own IT-Facility to meet simultaneously and most accurately: Higher Availability Unmatched flexibility to changes Reduced footprint Lowest TCO Product standardization  AND ALL THIS AT BEST POSSIBLE COST 28 March 2011 Conceptpower DPA
