SB2009 Triage 20091203B1 SB2009 Triage Summary 20091203B N.Toge

SB2009 Triage 20091203B2 CFS (1) Safety study materials - quote the uris for existing work reports, add a short paragraph. No separate appendix (Vic K). –Safety table summary - Find out what we can do more... also, spell checking necessary! (Vic K + NKT)  Touch-up Semi done as of 20091203A (need URIs, however) Tunnel diameters to quote for the systems other than MLs (to go with the figs) - Look like some entries for EU and AS have to remain blank, since no quotable work exists for the central region: Explain that that is the situation and that they will be addressed during TDP2.  done Installation aspect - no presentable work being done. Responsible group not in existence. Just state that we will address this in TDP2. (Need concurrence by PMs)  Text touch-up done 3D stuff - Shall we say, in a more visible way, that the work is in progress?  Text touch-up done

SB2009 Triage 20091203B3 CF/S (2) Have to say a few words about the necessity of the regional variations and how we'd maintain them during TDP2, in a "to do in TDP2" section.  Text touch-up done ML length issue remains is dealt with in exact the same way as RDR (such as blank tunnel space for energy reserve ML HW which is not going to be initially installed), except  NKT to chew on MCR, fix Layout, quote Layout from CFS – additional length for undulator energy loss –additional length for QWT energy loss –additional length for bunch timing matching (416m which was missing in RDR). PMs to create lines to this effect, we quote this same text in the Layout and CFS sections. Missing URI for ref to quote on the heat load  done

SB2009 Triage 20091203B4 Electron System No discussion –NKT/MCR to chew on AB on some remaining details

SB2009 Triage 20091203B5 Positron System Quote the ref for Kubo's work (presented at Alburquerque) on the ML operability issue of alternate pulsing at low Ecm operation (Jim C). Mention that propagation of the beam emittance thru the undulator (besides energy spread) is a continued topic into TDP2 (Jim C). Reconcile the BDS Beamlie figure and Posi Conceptual Diagram  Deepa, JimC, Toge, ++ - Somehow import the animation (or sth equivalent) of the alternate pulsing,Also import the highlighted diagram for the aux source.  NKT

SB2009 Triage 20091203B6 DRs The fundamental conclusions for this section should be stressed, either in the beginning or at the end, i.e. – we think we are ok with the low-P with this ring. –we shall see how it goes with high-P (except more results next year) "Hanging" illustrations at the end of the manuscript have to be integrated within the text. Add a short text elaborating a bit on the kicker business (beam orbit stability req / feedback implementation / R&D) All pending, to be done by the authors.

SB2009 Triage 20091203B7 RTML Done

SB2009 Triage 20091203B8 ML a paragraph or two explaining for each of the following – –the 1.6ms pulse for low current option –the strategies for dealing with cavity performance variation. –the low energy operation where some portion of the ML would operate in zero-gradient or negative- gradient mode. –  CA to draft; MCR and NKT will figure out how to use this text in Overview / ML and apply the mods.

SB2009 Triage 20091203B9 KCS KCS shall present its implementation proposal with the bouncer modulators, and RDR-style power distribution WG systems; –The KCS section, the availability and CFS are presented with these assumptions. –However, Marx and tunable WGs shall be mentioned as good possibilities –to pursue into TDP2.  Text fix to be applied by CN. Insert a few lines concerning the implementation plans for the control electronics in the ML tunnels.  CN. Give more discussion on LLRF. We are dealing with more aggravated issues related to signal latencies, bandwidth. Present a bit more specifics of the current thoughts on technical solution if not a complete design proposal.  CN, CA

SB2009 Triage 20091203B10 DRFS Add more remark on the adequacy of the klys lifetime while this thing is dealing with a fairly big average power, if not the peak power. Sorting scheme and higher power klystron in case of dealing with high-grad cavs  Fukuda san!

SB2009 Triage 20091203B11 BDS Label the "matching section" in Fig 4.7.1 (Deepa). Clean up the text to go with that Fig (NKT).  Done, as of 20091203A In consideration of the low Ecm operation with alternate ML pulsing, introduce one more beamline on the electron side to deal with high/low energy beams to do doglegs downstream of the undulator.  do this with word, not with fig. (Partial) response from the GDE Physics Question Comm: --> tomorrow, following the report by BF, who indicates everything the "stability“ issue are reasonably answerable. Expect circulation of his preview later today/tonight.  Shall we forget this? Part of the BDS line has to accommodate three / four beamlines. Extract corresponding tunnel cross-section views from CF/S drawing set and stick it into the Layout section (NKT). BDS will ref to it.  JMP (text!!!) + NKT (illustration) /MCR PMs have to determine how much spotlight we would give on the travelling forusing.

SB2009 Triage 20091203B12 Cost Complete the manuscript  PHG Implement part of the Cost summary in the Overview  PMs

SB2009 Triage 20091203B13 Layout 2D cross sections of the central region  NKT  JMP Clarification of the ML length issues  PMs / NKT  JMP Comparison of RDR cartoon and SB2009 cartoon … make sure we clean it up with “correct” numbers.  Overview (do not use yellow!!!)

SB2009 Triage 20091203B14 Still in ICU Intro / Overview Layout SRF gradient Availability Risk Analysis It would be highly helpful if a reasonably editable version of these sections become available by 7AM, Monday, 2009/12/7 JST.

SB2009 Triage 20091203B15 Finally, for All Let us make sure that we clearly say the “pros / motivations” for the changes, besides “cons / issues” in the beginning of each section. We should not be over- selling, yet we do not have to be shy  All Individual Section Authors. PMs, NKT

SB2009 Triage 20091203B16 From now on One more webex, next week, likely 2009/12/9? Drop-dead date: Friday, 2009/12/18
