2 Vocational or Technical Schools
Vocational/Tech School = 6 months to 2 yrs. after high school Certificate, Diploma, Degree Gwinnett Tech, Athens Tech Building Trades Automotive Trades Medical Occupations Dental Hygienist Medical Technician X-Ray Technician Cosmetology – The Process Institute, Gwinnett Tech, Electrician Plumbing Vet Tech

3 Military Military – You have to take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) to place in a certain position with the military. Enlisted – Join right after high school Officer – Attend and graduate from a 4 year college and then join the military. Military – 3 to 4 years minimum commitment (120 credits = a college degree - if you attend a Military Academy) Army – West Point Navy - Annapolis Air Force – Air Force Academy Marines - Annapolis

4 College Undergraduate Degrees – You may take either the SAT or ACT placement exams to get into college. Each college sets the score for admission.

5 College Associate’s Degree - A.S. or A.A. – 2+ years 60 Credits
Nursing Dental Hygienist Vet Tech Clerical Pre-Education   Criminal Justice

6 College Bachelor’s Degree – B.S., B.A., B.S.Ed. (I just used these to keep it simple) – 4+ years 120 Credits Medical Business Education Science & Engineering Fine Arts Humanities Journalism Government Pre-Vet Pre-Med Pre-Dental Pre-Law

7 College Graduate Degrees & Professional School– You have to take another entrance exam and reapply to these programs after getting your undergraduate degree. GRE, GMAT, MAT, MCAT, PCAT, LSAT, Master’s Degree – M.S., M.A. M.Ed., MBA, MAcc., MFA – 5-6 years post high school – 33-36 credits after the Bachelor’s Degree Medical Business Education Science & Engineering Fine Arts Humanities Journalism Government

8 College Specialist Degrees Doctorate of Philosophy
6-7 years post high school Ed.S. 30-36 credits after Master’s Degree For those interested in education Doctorate of Philosophy 8-10 years post high school. 33-36 credits after Master’s Degree depending on the area of study. Ph.D. – Academia, Scientist, Psychologist Ed.D. – Academia Professional Degrees – M.D., J.D., Pharm. D., D.V.M. 10 to 14 years post high school Each program determines how credits will be handled. Generally, residency and internship components are mandatory requirements of each program. M.D. – Medical Doctor J.D. – Lawyer Pharm. D. – Pharmacist D.V.M. or V.M.D. – Veterinarian D.D.S. - Dentist
