ROBOTICS VOCAB AND FLOWCHARTING

ROBOTICS VOCABULARY Robot- a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer Program- a plan of things that are done in order to achieve a specific result Brick- the computer that runs the EV3 education robot Large Motor- the motor used for movement on the EV3 Medium Motor- the motor used for tool movement on the EV3

VOCAB CONTINUED… Sensor- a device that detects or senses heat, light, sound, motion, etc., and then reacts to it in a particular way Implement- an object used to do work Parameter-a rule or limit that controls what something is or how something should be done Observation- the activity of paying close attention to someone or something in order to get information a statement about something you have noticed : a comment or remark

VOCAB CONTINUED… Point Turn- a turn in which the robot pivots around a stationary wheel Center Turn- a turn in which the robot pivots by counter-rotating both wheels Driving Base- the basic robot configuration with no implements Multitasking- a program that executes more than one action at the same time Loop- a program that repeats a series of actions Switch- a program that makes a decision based on a sensor reading

VOCAB CONTINUED Variable- something that is able or likely to change or be changed : not always the same Mission- a specific task or job that someone, or something, is given to do Outcome- something that happens as a result of an activity or process Flowchart- a diagram that shows step-by-step progression through a procedure or system especially using connecting lines and a set of conventional symbols

FLOWCHARTING All robots need to have programs to make them run. The easiest way to start a program is to first have a plan. This plan consists of a flowchart of small steps that make up the entire program. Each step is simple enough that the robot can perform it without too much effort.

FLOWCHART EXCERCISE Wake Up Arrive At School

HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY! THE END
