10 Gandhi’s mother died while he was in school in India. He left England just 2 days after his finals.

11 SOUTH AFRICA At 24 Gandhi traveled to South Africa. While he was there he found himself and his philosophy.

12 Gandhi spent a week in Durban, Natal. After that his business moved him to Pretoria. While he was there his focus was discrimination.

13 While Gandhi was there he helped Pretoria fix their problems by taking them to court. Once he was done with that he returned back to Durban, Natal and then went home.

14 ACCOMPLISHMENTS Gandhi didn’t receive many awards for his accomplishment s although there were a few. He was named man of the year in 1930 by TIME magazine.

15 1999 Gandhi was runner up as person of the year. Between 1937 and 1938 Gandhi was nominated for the Noble Peace Prize but never did receive one.

16 ASSASSINATION Gandhi was assassinated in January of 1948. He was assassinated by a Hindu nationalist, Nathurham Godse.

17 LEGACY Gandhi will always be remembered throughout the world in many different countries for trying to make things equal between races.

23 Pope John Paul II was born in Wadowice, Poland. Lost his mother and his brother, Edmund, at a young age.

24 SCHOOLING Attended Krakow’s Jagiellonian University after high school. After that he started attending a seminary.

25 Pope John Paul II was ordained in 1946. He spent two years in Rome while he finished earning his doctorate in theology.

26 TRAVELING After he was done with school he spent his time traveling the world spreading his message of faith and suffering.

27 RETURNING HOME In 1958 Pope John Paul II became the bishop of Ombi. In 1964 he became the archbishop of Krakow.

28 He was a participant in the Vatican II council. In 1978 Pope John Paul II made history by becoming the first non-Italian Pope in more than 400 years.

29 DEATH Pope John Paul II was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2001. Four years later in 2005 on April 2 nd Pope John Paul II had died.

30 LEGACY Pope John Paul II will be known throughout the world as having a strong relationship with God. He loved sharing his faith around the world to many different countries.
