1 Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology
Online Degree Completion Program Department of Technology Systems College of Technology and Computer Science

2 Outline Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) at East Carolina University Development of the BSIT degree Concentration areas (five online) Application Process Marketing

3 The evolution of the BSIT…
ECU has brought back life to the AAS degree. It is no longer terminal. ECU provides a continuous road way for AAS graduates to BS completion needed for professional development ECU Department of Technology Systems is committed to the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) partnership and economic development

4 Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology
Specifically designed for AAS transfer Coordination with over 100 AAS programs in NCCCS Flexible: Block technical transfer credit for approved AAS degrees Adaptable: Integration with emerging fields (e.g. bioprocess manufacturing) College goal in bioprocess education: work force and skill development at multiple levels and career pathways Comprehensive workforce development strategy: Span from operations and support groups to engineering Supporting needs of non traditional (adult learners currently in the work force) and traditional students.

5 BSIT Concentrations Selected to cover the technological work place and integrate with NCCCS programs Information and Computer Technology Industrial Distribution and Logistics Manufacturing Industrial Supervision Bioprocess Manufacturing Mechanical Technology* Architectural Technology* * On campus only

21 BSIT Program information & application
Contact Program Coordinator: Dave Batts Examine technical content to assure preparation for the upper division technical courses Examine general education courses to assure college transfer Students apply when they complete their AAS degree and completed 24 hours of general education transfer courses (NCCCS and UNCS agreement) Must have a 2.5 GPA in these courses In general, can apply up to 26 hours general education from another institution

22 BSIT Program information & application
Students with an AAS can enter as a junior with: 37 technical block credit for your lower technical content (given to the student after they are admitted) 26 hours of general education hours 63 transferable hours towards the 126 for the entire degree Of the remaining 63 hours 42 upper technical hours (must be taken at ECU, offered online) 21 of remaining general education courses or cognates can be taken at ECU or any other four year institution

23 ECU Admissions Students apply when they complete their AAS degree and completed 24 hours of general education transfer courses (NCCCS and UNCS agreement) Must have a 2.5 GPA in these courses In general, can apply up to 26 hours general education
