5 Features of the doctoral framework  3 formal stages: each stage marked by explicit development of knowledge and research practice  Subjects and modules integrated throughout the candidature whenever appropriate  Doctoral study plan (DSP) – tool for planning, monitoring and reviewing each candidate’s progress  Use of supervisory panels

6 Stages: Assessments Stage 1 – concludes with an assessment to confirm your status as a research degree candidate Stage 2 – concludes with an assessment to confirm the advanced progress of your research Stage 3 – concludes with an assessment to confirm readiness to submit your thesis

7 Doctoral Study Plan (DSP) Designed in consultation with supervisor/s, drawing on your academic and professional experience and goals, and on study focus DSP is a tool for integrating the subjects and modules into a coherent program over the 3-4 year candidature. DSP is also used to monitor, review and report on the student’s progress throughout their candidature.
