Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.— Amen.

Memory Verse 1 Cor 13:13 “But now abide (live forever) faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

John 16:8-11 The Convicting Ministry of God the Holy Spirit: Sin, vs. 9 Righteousness, vs. 10 Judgment, vs. 11

Efficacious Grace:

1. E.G. is the Spirit’s ministry of making the faith of the spiritually dead person effective for eternal salvation.

2. The unbeliever’s faith that believes in Christ comes from one who is spiritually dead, therefore, GtHS must make their faith effectual for salvation and spiritual life to be realized.

3. Without this ministry there is no validity in the faith of an unbeliever as far as relationship with God is concerned.

4. From the human viewpoint we simply believe in Christ for salvation. From the Divine viewpoint, the second we believe, GtHS makes that faith effectual; He carries us into salvation.

John 3:18, “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

5. Some will believe in Jesus Christ because of the sin issue, others the perfect righteousness issue. The rarest is because of the judgment issue.

6. Efficacious grace is defined as an instant act of the power of the Holy Spirit whereby faith in Jesus Christ, originating from a spiritually dead person, is made effective for eternal salvation.

7. The work of God in evangelism leaves no place for human works or ability. Therefore, faith alone in Christ is made effective. No human works can be added to faith or included.

8. The unbeliever is spiritually dead from birth. Therefore, the faith of the spiritually dead person is powerless in itself to affect anything.

9. Consequently, the omnipotence of GtHS is effective as the means of producing the intended result; eternal salvation. Behind the scenes GtHS is working on our behalf; which is grace.

a. Human volition is the faith of the spiritually dead person which is a non-meritorious function. It is ineffective because the one who is believing in Christ is spiritually dead.

But in every case, without exception, the grace of God comes to the rescue.

b. Divine sovereignty and the omnipotence of the Holy Spirit turns that helplessness, that faith, into effectual faith for eternal salvation.

c. He thus imparts to man the blessings purchased by the death of Jesus, righteousness and eternal salvation.

These are part of the 40 things God gives to the believer at the moment of salvation.
