2 Current Environment Most UK institutions publically funded –Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) funds LJMU LJMU needs to reduce recruitment in 2009/2010 due to over-recruitment in 2008/09 Rationalisation of current portfolio of courses –LJMU strategic focus Enhancing student employability –WoW® (World of Work) initiative Improving student satisfaction and success

3 Key technological roles Enhancing student employability –Supporting student self-awareness and understanding of the world of work E-portfolios with multimedia content, accessible through mobile technologies Using Wimba Classroom for live/archived ‘expert’ employer presentations Improving student satisfaction and success –Retention, communication and support Using Pronto to support early-stage transition to university Using Wimba Voice Email for timely feedback on assessment
