2 History of Alexandrite  Alexandrite was originally discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in 1830  In the 1990’s Alexandrite was discovered in Sri Lanka, Ceylon, India, Brazil, Burma, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania  The stones color differs depending on where you find it

3 History of Alexandrite (cont.)  Alexandrite from the Ural Mountain in Russia is green by daylight and red by incandescent light  Other varieties of Alexandrite may be yellowish or pink in daylight or raspberry red by incandescent light  The ideal color change would be fine emerald green to fine purplish red, but this is exceedingly rare

4 Uses of Alexandrite  It is the 45 th and 55 th wedding anniversary gemstone  It is said to that Alexandrite helps fight low self-esteem, improves central nervous system disorders, and relieves spleen & pancreas problems  Tiffany’s was one of the first company's to sell Alexandrite.

5 Alexandrite Today  Alexandrite is rare but you can buy it at different major jewelry stores  It is a very popular jewel but most people don’t have it because of it is how expensive it is.  Alexandrite is currently found in many countries
