Aims of the NT Environmental Standards NT homes should be easy and affordable to heat for tenants The environmental impact of these properties should be low These properties meet the required minimum EPC score of E by 2018
2
SAP Rating The headline figure on an EPC [Estimated fuel bill (£)]/[floor area (m2)]
3
EI Rating EI = Environmental Impact Linked to CO2 emissions [estimated CO2 emissions (kgCO2]/[floor area (m2)]

Selecting cost-effective measures A two tiered approach Non-fuel switching measures Fuel switching measures
10
Assessing compliance with the standard An EPC (lodged with the central register) is only legally required for new lettings (and for properties being sold) NT intends to go beyond this legal requirement to demonstrate Basic Compliance of all non- listed properties
11
Non-fuel switching options Select measures that apply from table Apply in order of cost effect (lowest first) Use improvement figure to estimate how much each measure will contribute towards target
13
Selecting fuel switching measures Gas CH generally best option Off-gas properties can be challenging, lots of options Therefore, a hierarchy of upgrade options has been produced for guidance

Non-RdSAP Measures Some measures will not improve SAP or EI score but will still improve energy efficiency. Insulate loft hatch Draughtproof loft hatch Add louvres to open fans or add fans with louvres etc...
