5 Influence Strategy Step 1: Clarity in Establishing my GOAL: 1.What specifically am I attempting to accomplish and what is the preferred outcome? 2. Who must I influence to support my vision/plan? ( staff, Executive, my boss, department heads, volunteers, etc….???) 3. What attempts have I made to influence this group/person and what was the outcome?

6 Influence worksheet Step 2 –Analysis What I need to know before trying to influence: 1.What response do I anticipate hearing? 2. What are potential sources or reasons for his/her/their resistance? 3. What do I need to know about him/her/them that is (would be) helpful in understanding his/her/their view, response? 4. What potential exchange am I offering them for accommodating to my interests?

9 Step 4 - Outcome : What can I reasonably expect to accomplish with them on the first (next) encounter? How do I keep them “on board” if they are persuaded? What is Plan B if I am unsuccessful ?
